Date: 27.11.2015 – 28.3.2016
Venue: Oi!
Programme: Before After

Idea:

Hack is a conceptual project that focused on the tension between public and private, official and unofficial, seen and unseen testimonies of the participants and public. The traces of the negotiation and intervention undertaken by the participants overlapped and reconstructed the memory of Oi!.

Content:

The public is allowed to stay overnight at Oi! in this project.

HACK represents a privilege, which provides special perks for participants to enter Oi! at night and take up the entire space after hours (except the locked galleries and offices).

HACK also resembles an invisible cage: Unlike any other night at home, stay-over participants are bound by regulations set out by Oi!. At the same time, they need to fulfill some requests, i.e. to leave a message in the place through an action, then make record and submit documentation of the trace they leave, which guides the public to discover their work the next morning.

Under such a setting, if you are a participant, will you:

  1. A) exercise the constraining privileges?
  2. B) challenge the exclusive boundary?
